The service was good, the food was hot, but, the food was pretty much bland and tasteless. I had the Tour of Italy which includes lasagna, fettuccini alfredo, and chicken parmesan. The chicken parmesan was thin and over cooked. The fettuccini alfredo was tasteless. And, the lasagna was bland and greasy. My sister in law found a piece of paper receipt in the salad. This visit to Olive Garden reminded me why I haven't been to one in 20 years. Basically crap out of a can. I won't go back. Yuck!

Went there tonight for supper. Service was not the best. Waitress came and took our drink order then had to wait. She finally came and took our meal order after about fifteen minutes. We got our salads after a few minutes. When we finished those we waited almost another thirty minutes for the meal to show up. The food was ok but after the wait it wasn't really a good dining experience. Olive Garden has been better in the past.

A colleague and I have dined at this Olive Garden several times and the meals and service have been quite variable. Today, for instance, the service was notably poor with the waitress failing to greet us in a timely manner, delivering one incorrect food item, and delivering the remaining items cooked in a salty or burnt fashion. It was lunchtime, but a restaurant should be at its best when it is busy, in my opinion. This experience is opposite of one previous visit when a waitress actually went out of her way to show that she cared about us being there and give us little perks that went along with our meal. I've tried several of the menu items and, while some are decent, some are really not that good. The Italiano burger is a big failure, notably because it was served well-done and bone dry. I would suggest remedial training for the cooks and servers at this restaurant to ensure that diners received a consistently good dining experience. #anotherchainrestaurantfailure

Because there aren't a lot of restaurants in Grand Forks, we went here to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. We would have been better off just eating Christmas leftovers at home. The best part of the night was the aggressive server who followed me out the door trying to pick a fight! Wow. The evening started off wrong when the hostess asked if we wanted to sit in the bar. I said no and she then proceeded to keep asking if we wanted to sit in the bar. She said we could pick our own seats. Excuse me? Did she not see my elderly parents standing there? The restaurant was not busy. I told her firmly, "We came here for dinner, not to sit at the bar." The server came over and things seemed to be back on track even though it took a long time for her to get back to us for our orders. No big deal though as we were talking. My dad usually has soup before a meal so he was debating whether he wanted soup or salad. I said, "You can have both." The server then had the audacity to inform me in a patronizing manner that there would be an extra charge for "that." It really rubbed me the wrong way considering this is just the Olive Garden, and I had just been dining at the 21 Club two weeks ago! It was as if she got extreme glee pointing that out, too. She brought the salad and literally threw down the salad plates on the table. My mother even reached out to stop her plate from spinning. The food arrived, and my mother's shrimp Alfredo looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for two hours. She should have sent it back, but she feels funny sending things back so she asked for more sauce to make it edible. My dad ordered the Rosemary Chicken, and it was dry. I had the chicken Alfredo; it was palatable. My spouse ordered a gluten-free meal, and his was fine. In fact, he enjoyed it very much. Our tiny eating space was filled with dishes the server never cleared away. Apparently, there was no urgency for that task. The bill came with suggested tips, and I was going to leave the customary 15% until the server came back and practically grabbed the bill holder out of my hands. Way, way too eager for my liking so I wrote down some constructive feedback for her. Too bad she hadn't moved that quickly as she did when it came time to get her tip (which was going to be a major, major disappointment) and hopefully a wake-up call to treat customers better and not be so eager for the money. We were leaving, and she came around the corner, said "I read your comments" and then proceeded to stand there and try to refute my feedback. My parents and spouse were already out the door so I just kept walking and she followed me. I wasn't really listening to what she was trying to argue about, but in typical Millennial fashion nothing was her fault. The hostess asks about the bar because... I didn't make the food... Blah, blah, blah... But what about the condescending tone, throwing the plates down on the table, grabbing for the bill before we had finished our meals, and not clearing the plates? No, none of that was in her control. She asked, "Do you want to talk to my manager?" I said no. I mean, what was there to talk about? The meal was mediocre, the service was mediocre, the end. Just move on for goodness sakes! But she kept on and on in the entryway and some customers were looking and listening. It was extremely unprofessional on her behalf. I finally said, "I know the food wasn't your fault, and I even said that in my comments. I know this is just the Olive Garden, but I expect a little more finesse. The service just wasn't up to my standards." I tip servers who actually work for their tips (whether it's at a five star restaurant or a chain restaurant) instead of just feel entitled to tips. If only she had shown half as much passion while interacting with us DURING the meal as she did AFTER the meal, she would have earned a 20% tip no doubt. So my poor dad had a bland 80th birthday with dry chicken. My parents were still talking about how unprofessional the server was to follow me out the next day. Guess that was the highlight of the night!

Seriously, who doesn't love Olive Garden?! Service is always on top of things, food is always what you can expect. It may not be mind-blowing food, but it's predictable - which is good in its own way.

I've eat there many times. There was waiting line when we arrive at the place. A girl who takes customers name, she was not friendly. That was okay, the server there was most disappointed to me. He didn't say his name, just grab the drink, forgot lemon on my water. We ordered appetizer and two entrees , first he got bread and Seafood Linguini (one of the entree) for us. I ask him for salad and my appetizer, are we supposed to have these first right? And then he ask me: "oh, do you want salad"? Later, our table are full of plates. Not a good experience at all, they need more training on what dish come to the table first, and be friendly to customer. Both the girls at front and our server. The only good thing there is that one of the entree was good, a dish with beef and something looks like dumplings, it smells really good too.

A above average Chain restaurant. The food is always okay, but it is certainly not really great Italian food. The menu features good chain restaurant formula food, but not as good as Carrabba's Italian Grill, a chain owned by the Outback folks. Too bad the standard for great Italian in this area has such a low bar. My second visit to this particular Olive Garden and both times I have had exceptional service.

The place is impressive. It's fashioned in Tuscan farmhouse style with a welcoming entryway.

Been here two times now in the end I find this restaurant is doing all the things the ones back home used to do, and doing it better, in short this is how a chain should be run. By now we have had the five cheese Zita, ravioli di portobello and several more dishes all have arrived hot and tasty. This is now one of our regular stops while in Grand Forks.

Any restaurant Marilyn Hagerty likes, I like. Minus one star because Crown Royal does not appear as an option on the Olive Garden beverage menu.

Food was as to be expected from Olive Garden. Fresh and ready to eat. Wait staff... hmmm... need a little more happy faces

I order from here about once a week. For a large, mainly sit-down, restaurant they do a good job with takeout. They are prompt and package things properly. While OG isn't exactly gourmet italian, well no sh*t, the food is always cooked properly and warm. Haven't been disappointed.

it's an Olive Garden. Same thing you'll find at all other Olive Gardens. Basic, mass-produced boring bland "italian". Nothing special, definitely better places to go to in town.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
